A year of recognition, growth and the strengthening of sustainable tourism in the Amazon

The year 2025 marked a decisive period in our journey. Located in the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve, Uakari Lodge expanded its visibility, strengthened its digital channels and consolidated its role as a reference in community based tourism in the Brazilian Amazon.
Throughout the year, we took part in important spaces for dialogue, received recognition from international media outlets, were present at strategic industry events and deepened our content production about the Amazon rainforest, its communities and the possible paths for tourism committed to conservation and knowledge.
In this retrospective, we bring together the main highlights of 2025.
International recognition and media coverage

In November 2025, we were mentioned in a New York Times report about floating hotels around the world. The article presented different lodging initiatives that engage directly with natural environments and highlighted Uakari Lodge as an example of a floating lodge integrated into the Amazon’s water cycle.
This mention reinforced international interest in sustainable lodging models and brought the Mamirauá region into focus as a territory where environmental conservation, science and experiential tourism move forward together.
Finalists in a tourism award

Still in 2025, we were announced as finalists for the National Tourism Award 2025, an initiative of Brazil’s Ministry of Tourism that recognizes projects and experiences capable of strengthening Brazilian tourism in a responsible, innovative way aligned with territorial development.
We were selected in the Community Based Tourism category, which highlights initiatives in which local communities actively participate in management, operations and the distribution of benefits generated by tourism. The category values models that promote social inclusion, income generation, cultural appreciation and environmental conservation, integrated into the way of life of the territories.
This nomination recognizes the model we have developed in partnership with the Mamirauá Institute for Sustainable Development and with Amazonian riverside communities.
Digital presence, content and growing interest in the Amazon

Throughout 2025, we observed consistent growth in interest in Uakari Lodge and in experiences in the Amazon rainforest, as a result of continuous work in communication and digital presence. Our website recorded a 60 percent increase in traffic over the year, while our Instagram profile grew by 164.6 percent in number of followers, reflecting the growing number of people interested in getting to know the Amazon from a responsible, territory connected perspective.
This movement was also reflected in our blog, which received many visits throughout the year, especially in content focused on trip planning and understanding the territory. Among the most searched topics were what to pack for the Amazon, when to visit the region and where to stay in the rainforest.
These contents show that interest in traveling to the Amazon comes together with a growing desire for qualified information, context and choices aligned with sustainable tourism and respect for local communities.
Partnerships and collaborations throughout the year

In 2025, we took part in a collaboration with Norte ao Norte, an initiative that connects projects committed to responsible communication, cultural appreciation and Amazon conservation. This partnership expanded dialogue among initiatives rooted in the territory and strengthened networks aligned with sustainable tourism.
Contribution to debates on sustainable tourism

We were also mentioned in an article by Jornal Impresso Brasil that echoed an episode of the podcast Trilhas Amazônicas, in which Pedro Nassar, coordinator of the community based tourism program at the Mamirauá Institute, was interviewed about possible paths toward more sustainable tourism in Brazil. The conversation addressed topics such as environmental conservation, territory and the role of local communities in building responsible tourism experiences.
Participation at ABAV 2025

In 2025, we were present at ABAV Expo, one of the country’s main tourism fairs. This participation allowed us to present our sustainable lodging model, strengthen connections with industry professionals and expand dialogue around ecotourism and experiential tourism.
A year that reaffirms directions

The 2025 retrospective reveals a year of growth, recognition and institutional consolidation. Each step forward reaffirms our commitment to a form of tourism that respects the territory, values Amazonian riverside communities and contributes to forest conservation.
Located in the region of Tefé, Amazonas, at the meeting of the Solimões and Japurá rivers, we continue to develop a proposal for lodging in the Amazon rainforest aligned with the principles of science, conservation and community based tourism.
Experience the Amazon with purpose

Visiting the Amazon is more than traveling. It is an invitation to understand one of the most important biomes on the planet and the people who build its history every day.
At Uakari Lodge, each experience is designed to foster a deep relationship with the forest, respecting the water cycle and the knowledge of local communities.
